The Best Guide to Poker Tournaments

Ok, there are many of poker and types of
Poker Tournaments. The most popular and easiest to pick up is Texas Hold ‘Em. Other games include 7 card stud, 5 card draw. There are many more different types of poker, these are the ones I favor myself.

Texas Hold ‘Em is by far the most fast paced poker there is, especially when its no-limit. No limit basically means what it sounds like there are no limits to the pot or the bets. No limit is definitely not for the faint of heart!

If you are new to poker, the best advice I can offer is that you avoid the no limits games and stick to limits until you have more experience behind you. If you find yourself constantly giving away your chips it can be quite demoralising and you may end up losing interest in the game.

Ok, a couple of hand card advice tips for playing in a Poker Tournament. First one, and I can’t stress this enough, DO NOT get ‘married’ to a pair of aces. There are a lot of people who go all-in on a pair of aces, then end up getting taken out by superior ‘complete’ hands.

Basically put, a pair of aces is only that. They are a great hand to have, but not the best, and you can still find yourself losing out to a better hand, such as a straight or flush.

Its well known that the worst hand to be given is a 7.2, but its not the end of the world if you are. You can stand a chance, all butt small, of beating someone with this hand.

A lot of people like to winning hands, this is ok if you think there is no chance of someone beating you, but don’t slow play a flop flush if you aren’t holding the relevant ace of the flopped suit.

Another good tip to bear in mind is tilting. To ’tilt’ is to let your emotions rule your game, sometimes it pays off, most times it doesn’t. Most players usually tilt for the most common reason of losing a hand. They will then try to gain their chips back by needlessly betting large amounts or even go all in.

Poker is a game for the patient, so bear that in mind when entering poker tournaments. If you can’t be patient then you are going to struggle. You aren’t going to get good hands all the time so wait for them..

I look forward to seeing you in a Poker Tournament soon.
