Why are the blinds considered early position in poker?

Any books I read about poker strategy say that the blinds are early position. Why is this if they are the last to act???
They’re only last pre-flop AND when no one raises them. There is no other time that they are last to act.

The blinds are only last to act before the flop and really they only get to act last if there is no raise preflop. After the flop first action is to the seat left of the dealer button which is the small blind and then it’s on the next seat which is the big blind so they are 1 & 2 to act after the flop, turn, and river come out so they are early position.

The blinds are not considered early position, because they are the last to act pre-flop. They are, however, early position after the flop because they are the first to act after the flop.

Blinds get to act after a flop. This gives a chance for the blinds to throw out a bluff on the flop. Players coming after you will then have to decide whether it is a bluff or not. Mind games are fun! It also depends a lot on the timing of the bluff, the cards of other players too. And most important, its the facial expression and skills of the player on the blinds

Most of the betting takes place after the flop in which case the blinds are in first and second position. Therefore the blinds are referred to as early position.

The blinds are considered early position because they are first to act after the flop. This, of course, assumes that there is betting after the flop and the remaining players are not all-in.
The stronger one gets as a player, the better one becomes at post-flop play, so the urge to shove pre-flop (emulating the hands one sees on TV) diminishes.
The reason most players are uncomfortable in early position is that they do not know what the players who can act after them might do. Yes, you can bet out on the flop and try to take control of the hand, but if a later player reraises you, you might have to fold and lose that money. A late position player has the benefit of being able to see what the other player(s) have done before he has to act. It sometimes makes decisions easier.
