online videos and articles only show the kinds of hands i can get?
how is the game actually played? what’s an ante and all that other stuff, how does the betting work?
Wikipedia actually has a good "Rules" section that shows how to play. It’s a good place to start.
After that, do other searches for "How to play Texas Hold ‘em" on Google, or on "Texas Hold ‘em strategy" once you understand the rules.

The antes are a kind of tax every player pays before the hand that goes into the winnable pot. A dealer button goes around the table with the small and big blinds to the immediate left. The small and big blinds are another pre-hand tax. Betting starts with the player to the left of the big blind. After the first round of betting three cards are dealt at once. After another round comes the turn, which is just another card, followed by more betting, followed by the river–which is another card–and another round of betting. Whoever has the best five card combination wins.
Also, to give you an idea of how the card combination works, since that tends to confuse brand-new players, let’s say it’s after the river and the board has 99477 and your pocket cards are AJ and your opponent’s is K10. Your hand would be 99A77 since that’s the highest possible for you, and your opponent’s would be 99K77. You’d win with 9′s and 7′s Ace high.

Texas Hold’em Basics
Basic Principle
Each player receives 2 cards that only they can see. 5 communal cards are dealt in the middle of the table. The winner is the player who can make the best 5-card poker hand using any combination of their own cards and the 5 communal cards, or the player who is left in the pot if all of the other players fold their cards.
All of the players have an equal stack of chips, which have different values. The players use these to bet during each round. In a TOURNAMENT, the player will pay an entrance fee & registration fee to receive their chips. The chips have no monetary value outside of the game. The entrance fees go into the prize fund and are given to the top remaining players (places paid varies depending on number of entrants).
Each player takes it in turn to be the DEALER, also known as being “ON THE BUTTON”. A round circle with the word DEALER written on it gets passed clockwise to each player as the game goes on. The betting order is also clockwise.
The person to the left of the DEALER is known as the SMALL BLIND. The person to the left of the SMALL BLIND is known as the BIG BLIND. BLINDS are compulsory bets that initially put money into the POT (the total bets/amount of money you can win in that round). If the blinds are: 50/100, then the SMALL BLIND will pay 50 and the BIG BLIND will pay 100. The BLINDS increase during the tournament to help eliminate players with the least chips, also known as SHORT STACKS.
The Basic Betting Round
1.Each player is given 2 cards (hole cards)
2.Round of betting
3.THE FLOP (First 3 community cards)
4.Round of betting
5.THE TURN (Forth community card)
6.Round of betting
7.THE RIVER (Fifth and final community card)
8.Round of betting
9.Showdown
Before the FLOP, TURN and RIVER are dealt, a card is BURNED (discarded). This is done to keep the game fair and to prevent cheating.
During the betting round players can CHECK, CALL, RAISE or FOLD.
CHECK – when players do not wish to bet. They can only do this if nobody has raised before them in that particular round of betting. Players will do this if they have a poor hand in order to see the next community card for free or to get to the showdown without betting any more. They may also wish to do this to fool the other players into thinking they have a poor hand, with the intention of RAISING them afterwards, which puts more money into the POT. This is known as CHECK-RAISING.
CALL – when players match the last bet (put the same amount into the pot as the player before them). Players do this if they wish to stay in the hand but do not wish to RAISE. They might do this if they are not confident about their own hand but think it is worth staying in the round, or they may wish to disguise a good hand, hoping that other players will bet into them.
RAISE – when players increase the last bet. This forces all of the other players to pay the same to stay in the round. The increase must be at least equal to the BIG BLIND. Players do this if they have a good hand and wish to force weaker hands out of the pot. Players may also wish to tempt weaker hands to stay in the pot, in the hope of winning money off them. Some players may be BLUFFING (pretending to have a good hand) and so bet strongly to force people out of the pot.
FOLD – when players discard their cards. This can be done in any betting round. Players do this if they have a poor hand and do not wish to stay in the game. If a player is able to CHECK, when they wish to fold, they should CHECK as it is free to continue further into the betting round. They could be lucky and HIT (get a card that helps their hand) on the next community card.
If everyone else FOLDS, the person remaining wins the POT. If more than one player remains at the end of the final betting round, everyone turns their cards ON THEIR BACKS (face-up), and the best 5-card hand is determined, which wins the POT.
A player may decide to go ALL-IN. This is when they put all of their chips into the pot. This may either be to scare people out of the pot, or to DOUBLE-UP (double their chip stack, when someone calls their all-in).

You can figure out the basic order of things by playing a free game on any online site, I like Bodog. However there are A LOT of other basics you will need to learn to be proficient at poker. Things like pot odds, betting odds, implied odds, starting hands, position, etc. My advice would be to pick up a good book that can take you through the basics, and then move on to more advanced techniques as you progress. I liked this book starting out Internet Texas Hold’em: Winning Strategies from an Internet Pro and you can pick up a used copy at Amazon for $4, a very good investment. Good luck and remember the more hands you see the better you’ll be.
